Delta is upgrading the experience in its premium economy cabin onboard long-haul flights, the Atlanta-based airline announced on Tuesday. Passengers hoping for an extra touch of luxury for an affordable price will find roomier seats, complimentary sparkling wine and elevated meal service, as well as handmade amenity kits, new memory foam pillows, and more in the airline’s Premium Select cabin.

The new perks come as premium economy seats are trending with fliers: many airlines across the industry are improving their premium economy cabins or introducing them for the first time. “As we come out of the pandemic, we’re seeing that customers have more appetite for premium experiences,” says Mauricio Parise, Delta’s vice president of brand experience. “Delta Premium Select sits at the intersection of luxury and practicality, giving customers the opportunity to treat themselves to a more spacious seat and premium experience at a lower price point.”

The airline first debuted its Delta Premium Select cabin in 2017 on select long-haul flights and has since expanded the service to include more routes and types of planes. The cabin class is now available on widebody planes flying all of Delta’s flights to Asia and 80 percent of its trans-Atlantic flights, including most of its flights to Europe.

Here are some of the things passengers can look forward to, starting today, September 20.

More comfortable seats

Delta Premium Select seats are more roomy than their regular economy counterparts, with 19 inches of width, 38 inches of legroom pitch, and seven inches of recline. (Regular economy seats are 18 inches wide, with 31 inches of pitch, and four inches of recline.) The seats are also outfitted with an adjustable leg and footrest to position for more support and better relaxation in the air.

Each of the new Delta Premium Select amenity kits are handmade by artisans in Oaxaca.

Luxe amenities for each passenger

Premium Select passengers will also enjoy other perks such as noise-canceling headsets, memory foam pillows, and cozy blankets made from recycled materials, all waiting in the seat upon boarding. A fragrant oshibori hand towel, scented with vanilla and orange peel, will be handed out before meals.
