Couple browsing New Orleans robbed inside of Marriott hotel space

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A few in city for a convention says they woke up to obtain a burglar within their Marriott hotel room above the weekend.

Leila and Andy Wieser say they’re frightened and angry about what took place to them, contacting it an knowledge they never ever want to repeat.

Leila Wieser remembers, “He was just inches away from my head when I was sleeping….that was just….creepy, tricky to consider.” Leila and Andy Wieser say they will not at any time appear back to New Orleans following a middle of the night break-in, still left them shaken.

“You believe you’re harmless and protected in a locked place,” Leila Wieser mentioned. They stayed at the Marriott Resort on Canal Road when in city from Wisconsin for a conference. Leila Wieser claims she read a noise at all-around 5 Saturday early morning within the room and saw the gentle on in the bathroom, in the beginning considering it was her husband.

“I rolled in excess of in bed and realized he was in bed and that’s when it startled me and strike him and stated somebodys in our home,” Leila Wieser stated.

The pair yelled and the male took off. They do not believe he acted alone.

“There was a person guy in our place, we imagine there was a different a person at the doorway, keeping the doorway open,” Leila Wieser mentioned.

The thief stole hard cash from each of their wallets and jewellery.

Leila Wieser describes her rings stating, “There was a marquee minimize ruby with diamonds down the side and then my very little pinky ring that experienced a garnet which is my birthstone and two diamonds in it.”

The Wiesers instantly termed resort safety and the NOPD showed up.

“Upon more investigation the hinges on the top ended up free and there was a screw missing on the top hinge so the doorway did not shut really well so to get it to shut you both had to force it definitely hard or let it slam shut so we really don’t think the doorway was basically latched,” Andy Wieser claimed.

They say they shut the U bar metallic lock at the top of the doorway when they went to mattress.

“Now we know that when you set that minor latch across the prime, you are not safe, you imagine you are but you are not, they can still get in,” Leila Wieser reported.

The pair hoped the thief was caught on movie but say the resort instructed them, “We discovered out that there is no cameras in the hotel hallways or elevators for the reason that we just assumed that they would have movie footage of any individual leaving a space and we learned they do not have cameras which was a shock to us.”

We attained out to the Marriott and in an e mail response a spokesperson wrote that the security and safety of visitors and affiliated is generally a prime precedence. The hotel then referred us to law enforcement for much more.

We reached out to the NOPD who tells us this is continue to an energetic investigation. Anybody with facts is urged to make contact with the police section.
